My autobiography is published by Matador (an imprint of Troubador Books).
It's available as a Hardback, Paperback, eBook and Audiobook - read by yours truly - and you will be able to get it from all the usual outlets, Amazon, Waterstones, WH Smith as well.
I am very pleased with the design of the cover - I gave the Matador designers Tom Sandars' picture of me conducting a rehearsal with the BBC Concert Orchestra - and this is what they came up with!
I am not under the illusion that it will be a best seller but maybe there will be just enough of you lovely people who want to find out what it is like to work with Dame Shirley Bassey, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Queen etc to at least make a respectable dent in the figures. It is a book that follows my career as well as my life and loves so it is fairly 'up close and personal', including a chapter all about my cancer journey in 2018.
I started writing the book at the beginning of 2021 and finished the first draft around the beginning of July. The next few months were editing and rewriting until at the end of 2021 I approached Troubador Books and they agreed to publish for me. Following that, the process to get the book to 'Pass for Press' standard was pretty all consuming, but I have loved every moment of it and would recommend Troubador one hundred per cent.
It started as a personal memoir for my daughters, Lillie and Meg, but once I'd got to around 50,000 words and I was still only at about 1993 I thought it might be worth doing it properly and making it a book that would give people a view of show business from a unique hands on perspective as well as being that personal memoir. Well, for good or bad, that is what it has become and I really hope that you enjoy it!
